GAA PALESTINE

We welcome volunteers from Ireland and abroad to support our mission bringing Gaelic games to the people of Palestine.

Would you consider volunteering with GAA Palestine in Ireland, abroad or the west bank?

Things to consider before deciding:

  1. Motivation & Intent
    • Why do you want to volunteer in Palestine?
    • Are you aware of the political and social context?
  2. Relevant Skills & Experience
    • Language skills: Arabic is helpful but not mandatory. English proficiency is often sufficient.
    • Previous volunteering: Prior experience in international or crisis settings is a plus.
    • Any relevant professional background.
  3. Safety & Risk Awareness
    • Understanding of travel advisories and local regulations.
    • Ability to follow safety protocols and respect checkpoints.
    • Willingness to undergo orientation on cultural norms and emergency procedures.
  4. Emotional & Cultural Resilience
    • Adaptability to unfamiliar environments and limited resources.
    • Respect for local customs, religion, and traditions.
    • Capacity to handle emotionally intense situations, especially in humanitarian roles.
  5. Documentation & Logistics
    • Valid passport and visa eligibility. Some nationalities may face entry restrictions or require special
      permits.
    • Health insurance and vaccinations.
    • Commitment to the duration of the program. Some placements require a minimum stay of 2–4 weeks.
  6. Interview & Reference Checks
    • Before you get started, we’ll have a short chat to get to know you better and answer any questions you may have.
  7. Training & Orientation
    • We will provide pre-departure training on:
      • Palestinian history and culture
      • Conflict sensitivity
      • Daily life and etiquette
      • Safety and emergency contacts
